Just Doing Missionary Work at the Carnival :)

THE CARNIVAL!

Today we went to Walmart and there was a cute little lady giving out food samples, so obviously we got some, and it turns out she has met with missionaries before and lost track of them!! No worries tho, we got her info and she'll probably be baptized asap ;) I would like to bear my testimony, I know samples are true and I would exort you to find that out for yourself. MIRACLES. Food miracles. God knows me so well hahah.

This week I got to go on exchanges with Sister Emch and it was the BEST. Ok, so Sister Emch and I wanted to go finding in a mall so we picked a mall and headed over. We pulled in and the whole mall was closed but there was a HUGE carnival in the parking lot and I'm not talking about some wimpy Alpine Days carnival (no hate tho), this thing was like mini Disneyland for real. So I marvel for a second and as we're walking back to our car I see a worker (all the workers were setting up for it to open) looking at us from inside the carnival fence so of course I'm like HEY WHAT'S UP? and he's like hey give me a minute! He comes out and starts talking with us and it turns out he's totally talked with missionaries before! Then his manager walks by and is like, "Who are you?" So we tell him and he's like, "Come on in! The people in here need Jesus bad." Hahah so we walk in and he's like, "No for real, go talk to people." SO WE DID! We were teaching people left and right for a solid 45 minutes and I have never had more fun contacting!!! Hands down best day of my life.

This week God showed me that men are that they might have joy. Two of my favorite things are eating and carnivals and he let me find friends to teach through both of those things!! God doesn't want us to be miserable, he wants us to feel the joy that comes through the gospel and from the blessings he is waiting to give us as we try our hardest to be like his son Jesus Christ! Alrighty, so everyone always says you can do whatever you want on your birthday. I decided what I want is to not write a group email, hahah, so this email is gonna be SUPER short sorry lol. I also wanted to say thank you for all the sweet birthday wishes!!! <3

Highlight of the week was our friend DIANNA! She is the cutest old Ghanaian lady in the world and this week she decided that she wants to be baptized woot woot!! We were teaching her the gospel of Jesus Christ, specifically baptism, and she was like "Aw, sisters, I just feel it in my heart. I just feel it in my heart! It's so warm." The spirit is a miracle worker I tell ya. Love that guy.

Well friends, this week a Muslim man said to me, "Why are you so skinny? Does Jesus not provide for you?" I told an atheist that we had Christ in common, and we accidentally knocked into a monastery, so that should about sum it up. Until next week, xoxo <3 Sis Mod!! lol kidding kidding but we had a way funny week. The things I do because I love Jesus right?? 

The happiest part of my week was Sunday because of my buddy Balal!!! Okay so back story: Right outside of my apartment complex there is an Ethiopian store that me and Sister Atkinson went to on one of our very first pdays together. While we were walking around the shop this little kid comes running around the corner and he's like, "Hey guys! What's up?" So we talked to the lil' guy for a couple of minutes and he said, "Stay right here. I'll be right back!" So we wait for our bud to come back and when he does he's holding two little rings in his hands! He gives us both a little ring and says, "These are so you don't forget about me." Fast forward to this Sunday: We show up at church and the elders come over and say hey, meet our friend Balal! And lo and behold BALAL IS MY FRIEND FROM THE STORE LIKE 4 MONTHS AGO!! He totally remembered me and the elders are teaching him and his family now!!! MIRACLES I TELL YA.

The other happiest part of my week was that I got to watch my little brother Tate open his mission call to DENMARK!!! Two Mods servin' the Lord at the same time, gotta love it. I am so grateful for my mission and the experiences I've had. It really is a life-changing year and a half. I read a scripture that stuck with me this week. D&C 1:23 says, "That the fullness of my gospel might be proclaimed by the weak and the simple unto the ends of the world, and before kings and rulers." It absolutely blows my mind that God gives the most important task happening on earth (the gathering of scattered Israel) to 18- 19- 20-year-olds, and I am so humbled to be one of those weak and simple servants! My mission president's wife always tells us that a lot of the time we are like the widow giving her mite. We give all that we have to the Lord, it still doesn't seem like enough, but through our Savior Jesus Christ and His grace that mite can become a fortune. Give God your mite this week and He will magnify it! :) Love y'all!!

Conference just fed my soul :') Also WOW! I gotta get my life together because CHRIST IS COMING!! I'm so excited to be a missionary in the last days!! Elder McKay's talk about the immediate goodness of God was one of my very favorites. Enduring with patience and relying on God's tender mercies can get you through any trial. Patience brings peace!!!

The morning of Conference we were running around inviting everyone and their dog to watch it (all creatures of our God and king? lol) and God was like good job sisters, here you can teach a lesson. We went and visited our friend Gus who we have never met with and he was like wow come in my house right this minute and share whatever you've got. Literally Gus said "Sisters, I want to be close to God but I don't know how to get there. I need to find which church is true. Please help me." We were like GUS HAVE WE GOT SOME NEWS FOR YOU! In conclusion, God prepared Gus for the gospel and people are looking for the truth this very minute!!!

Some people have already found it though, so we were out street contacting yesterday right before we went in for the night and we met this guy named Tony! He was super open to talking with us and he started telling us how he is just so confused on which church is Jesus Christ's church and asking us other questions of the soul that the Book of Mormon can answer, so we are pumped, right?? We are just baring our whole souls to this man and sharing scriptures from the Book of Mormon to answer his questions and we thought he was just soaking it allllll in. Then he looked at me and cracked a little smile and said, "I've already read that book." So Sister Jones and I were like, "Oh, so you've met with the missionaries before??" And he was like, "Nah sisters I was baptized in 1991. I just wanted to see what you got." Hahahah! Sneaky lil' guy I tell ya. I just love this church and I know it's true. It's alllll true!! God loves you. I love you. Have a good week!!

Saturday, AKA THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE

I'll get to all the miracles in a hot minute, but I just have to tell y'all that this week I met a legend. Sister Smith (MY MTC BFF) and I got to go street contacting in between MLC training meetings (straight up miracle cuz I love her to death). So we walked up to this man and Sister Smith was like, "Hey can we share something special with you?" And he was like, "Me first," so we were like ya go for it dude. He starts telling us a story in his thick Armenian accent about how he fell off of a three story building and he was HEALED. (Wow right?) He then proceeded to show us a 5-minute video of the first time his toes wiggled after he fell off the building (wow x5 right?). A medical miracle I say. God is good. :) 

 Okay, so I was looking back through my journal and I wrote something that summarizes this week: "GOD LOVES ME EVEN THOUGH I'M THE DUST OF THE EARTH. Amen." President Bennett of the Seventy came to train us and it was the BEST. He talked about being bold because we have the message of SALVATION, literally the only way to live with God and our families again. Why in the good world would you hold that back from people?? If we really, really love God and our brothers and sisters we will share the gospel without any reservations.

I really tried super hard to implement that and SO MANY MIRACLES CAME. On Saturday afternoon within 45 minutes we found 7 people that were in such need of the gospel. One of them said she had been praying for a Book of Mormon, two of them said that they had been looking for a church, 3 of them had met with missionaries before but had moved and lost contact with them and the last one was sick and wanted a blessing from God's priesthood power :'''') Guys, I'm not kidding! God knows all of us all so perfectly. He LOVES his children and I love him. I'm obsessed with being a missionary for my Savior!! 10/10 would recommend! For real though 😊
