growing lol

A classic Sis Mod Chick-Fil-A pic. Of course.
Ya know how when you're a freshman in college you gain the freshman 15? Well I'm gonna start a new trend, the mission 25 hahah. Thanks to Thanksgiving this past week not only am I growing spiritually but also horizontally. (And probs vertically too. Let's be real here #thetallsister lol)

Also do y'all remember that one principle (is it called a principle or am I just a missionary lol) in physics that says what goes up must always come down? I gained a testimony of that this week. We were out tracting and we walked up to a random guy's door, talked to him for a sec, and then went to walk away and he said, "Don't fall off the porch!" And what did I do you may ask? I definitely fell right off of his porch hahah. Sister Bourgous and I were laughing so hard. RIP Sister Mod and that random man's bush.

Other than the mission 25 and getting wrecked by a bush, this week has been UNREAL! We have been able to teach so many lessons which is such a blessing!! There have been multiple people who are really progressing in the gospel. I'll keep y'all updated in the coming weeks! But one thing that I've loved this week is how during this time of year people are so kind and service oriented. People start focusing less on their own problems and looking towards Christ! I was thinking a lot about the story of Peter walking on water to Christ the other day. The moment that he took his eyes off of the Savior and looked at the storm around him was when he started to sink. The same principle goes for all of us for sure. This Christmas season I just wanted to challenge all of you to take your eyes off the waves or the trials in your life and look to our Savior because He will be the one to get you through the storm. He has helped me find joy in whatever circumstance I'm in! Love y'all!

an ice cube aka sister mod

Antarctica itself ;)
Ok, so remember when I got my call to Washington DC? I was kidding... I actually got sent to Antarctica! We got 6 inches of snow this past Thursday, but by Friday it was completely melted. Reminds me of a place I know... (subtweet Utah, lol) Home sweet home amiright? We were told to go out and proselyte on Thursday so we spent hours upon hours trying to get the driveway shoveled; and after much trial and tribulation, we shoveled like 1/16th of the driveway. More karma for not using our workout time wisely haha. But, once we got out tracting, we were able to practice our "it's freezing plz let us inside" face. No one let us inside tho, so it looks like that needs a lil' more practice.. haha!

We taught our friend Eric from Togo this week!! We brought a member, Brother Reynolds, who speaks French though because all I can say is oui oui and croissant. (Also, I had to look up how to spell oui oui. No shame.) So, Brother Reynolds would just translate everything we said. ERIC IS SO ELECT THO IT WAS SWEET. Every point from the restoration we shared, he would testify back to us that it was true. :')

We also had mission tour with President Bennett from the Seventy and it was AMAZING. One of the things that he said that really stood out to me was, "You choose discouragement or you choose hope." I am so grateful that I'm able to go out and share the hope that the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings! I am thankful that my family can be together forever and for the knowledge that Heavenly Father loves and is aware of each of us personally. SO BLESSED FOR REAL.

I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving!!

"I've Been Reading Your Book!!"

ham/cat in one picture
So y'all are probably sick of me talking about bugs BUT here's your fun fact about Ham/Cat for the week. The population of ticks in my area is like 10,000x more than the population of humans, lol. So this week we went over to our friend Jeri's house and she was petting one of her puppies and found a hugeee tick, so she just casually pulled that thing out and it SPLATTERED all over her hand! I almost threw up. So nasty. A trial in my life for sure hahah.

Speaking of funny experiences, this week Sister Bourgeous and I were out tracting and a lady answered the door and started talking to us for a minute. She told us her name was Maria and that she wasn't interested, so we asked if she had any neighbors that were and she said nope. Then as we were saying bye to her I said, in my most confident voice, "Okay cya later Chris!" Hahaha! I called Maria the completely wrong name. So Maria if you are reading this, sorry. Sister Mod is losin' it.

Ah this week was SO cool though! (Figuratively and literally cuz it's like -4 degrees here, smh) but there is a lady that Sister Ewell and I talked to during the summer who was like, "This is a sign from God that you guys are here talking to me!! I know that this is what He wants me to do!!" Then after that lil' revelation she dropped off the face of the planet. But this week we decided to randomly go to her house and check on her and she opened the door and let us right in! We sat down and she was like, "I've been reading your book!!" She was 9 CHAPTERS into the Book of Mormon and she was loving it! We are going to start meeting with her every week now and Sis Bourgeous and I are feelin' #blessed for real. The Book of Mormon is so amazing and I am SO grateful for the challenge that President Nelson gave to read it and mark whenever Christ is mentioned! As I've focused on Christ in the Book of Mormon I find it easier to focus on Him throughout the day which has made the good days great and the bad days better. :) Life is good, friends. Focus on the Savior and life is always good!

Hope everyone had a good week!!

spanish tour hah

Halloween with Sister Bourgeous,
Paige's new companion
Alrighty, so this week Sister Mod drove a car for the first time in 5 months and I'm happy to report that we only almost hit 1 deer WAHOO. Killin' it. Actually, not killin' it cuz I'm a good driver, get it? Hahah sorry, that was the worst. But ya we had transfers on Tuesday and I'm now serving with Sister Bourgeous!! She's from California which automatically brings up our companionship average by a couple of points and she is THE BEST. It's going to be an awesome transfer for sure.

This week we've talked to SO many Hispanic people, and because of our limited Spanish it was hilarious, hahah. We were walking around and we went up to this little old Hispanic man named Mario and soon realized that he had literally no idea what we were saying, so we started speaking Spanish (kinda heh) and then he just started walking away and saying, "Come, come," so we followed him as he proceeded to take us on a 30-minute tour of the WHOLE neighborhood. Mario would just open random doors of people who also couldn't speak English and point at us, and the people were like, "Hola," then he would shut the door and take us somewhere else, hahaha. Good guy. Good times. Thx for sharing the gospel Mario lol.

BUT WOAH, it's been a week of miracles as always, but I'll just tell ya one so my email isn't a novel, lol. Last night we decided to walk down this random street and knock on a house that hadn't been contacted before. This guy came out and was like, "Woah, okay. I was actually just praying for some guidance so I can't believe you are here right now." He is so prepared and set up a lesson for this week, so PRAY FOR GEORGE please. :) The Lord is so good to us here in Ham/Cat and I continue to be amazed by the plan He has for each one of us.

I hope you all have a good week and keep me updated on your lives!!
