My third email about squash

Sister Ewell, cute Erin who just got baptized,
and Sister Mod.
Hahah okay, third and last email about squash, I promise. I just have to redeem myself to the whole two people who read my emails (aka Mom and Dad) (thx for the support). Sister Ewell and I finally don't fail at life. We have successfully made spaghetti squash. One large step for Sis Ewell and Sis Mod, very very small step for mankind, lol. Pics to prove it below. Thank you, thank you very much.

So our area is basically one big corn field with a population of 6 people, maybe 7 on a good day, which makes it super hard to street contact. So to make up for the lack of human life here, Sister Ewell and I decided that we were going to talk to literally every person we saw. No exceptions. Because everyone deserves salvation, ya know?? So it started off kind of creepy because we were chasing people down and standing by cars until they rolled down the window (we promise we aren't stalkers) (most of the time lol), but we saw how God started putting tons of people in our path because He knew we would talk to them!! MIRACLES. I wanna share one of the stories real quick tho because it was so cool. So we were just sitting in the car reporting lessons and this lady walks by, so naturally I jump out of the car to go say hey, and she just poured out her soul to me. She started to explain that she had taken all of the missionary discussions a couple of years ago and had a baptismal date, but ended up backing out and not being baptized. So I asked her if she would want to continue learning and she was like, "Ya, of course! I've been reading the Book of Mormon a lot lately. I'd love to keep talking and my daughter will come too. We'll be at church on Sunday. See you then!" UH YA WHAT?? Is this real life?? Not sure yet. I'll let ya know next week at church. ;))

Spiritual Gem: Missionary life is so cool and life in general is so cool and the gospel is so cool. Share it. That's all. I hope everyone has a great week and I promise next week I will choose a topic different than squash to write about hahah.

Love,
Sister Mod

The infamous spaghetti squash dinner. Third time's the charm. Right?

Groundhog Day. hahaha literally.

So, I've been informed that spaghetti squash is a type of squash; and you can't just make spaghetti out of any old squash that you find on the streets.  I'm ashamed.  Sister Ewell is ashamed.  The whole state of Virginia is ashamed.  I'd like to formally apologize...it won't happen again! :')  Hahaha.

BEST NEWS OF THE WEEK...Sister Ewell and I hit 2 groundhogs with our car in 1 night.  Hahah jkjkjk that's the worst news of the week.  We were just driving home jammin' to some Follow the Prophet and...  BAM.  Groundhog.  RIP.  Very traumatizing.  Very sad.  Don't worry though, we prayed for the groundhogs and their families so they should be good (10 out of 10 by now), but Sister Ewell and I will never be the same. :’)

ACTUAL BEST NEWS OF THE WEEK IS THAT ERIN GOT BAPTIZED!!!  Oh my goodness, it was just the happiest thing ever.  That girl is absolutely amazing.  The baptism went great!!  She was just glowing the whole time and we all cried.  There was such a sweet spirit there.  We just love our Erin sooooo much. :))  Also, little side note miracle: when she got confirmed on Sunday, there was a member of the Stake High Council there and he had never met Erin before.  He shared his wife's conversion story and it was almost word-for-word Erin's story.  It was seriously the coolest thing ever.  The Spirit confirms when we are doing the right things!!!

It has been a great week here, as always, and I'm just pumped that I get to be a part of sharing the happiest message in the world.  Families are forever!  Because of the Savior, we have never-ending second chances and God loves us SO much!!  Love you all tons and grateful I have awesome, awesome people in my life. :)) ...especially my AMAZING mom!!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY THIS COMING SUNDAY TO EVERYONE'S FAVORITE PERSON MARCI MOD <33  Everyone give her extra hugs for me if you see her!!

Love,
Sister Mod

(Also no baptism pics this week, but I'll send 'em asap)

New transfer new me

"Pics this week in honor of ham/CAT." Hahaha! She kills me!
Jk. New transfer, same me, same Ham/Cat, and same Sister Ewell. Lol.

So for all of you who think that I'm a successful adult (lol), I would like to clarify that I most definitely am not due to an event that occurred this week. It all started when Sister Ewell and I decided to forgo grocery shopping last p-day. Three days into the week we realized that we had like 2 blueberries left in our fridge and we would most likely have to go into survival mode. So we did just that. We had 3 weird looking squashes that a member gave us, so we decided to try to be a mom and made spaghetti squash bc innovation amiright? Well this is where the tragedy happened. I think we cooked them for way too long because when we pulled out the squash and started trying to make spaghetti, it turned into baby food. So we basically ate baby food. I'm sorry I've failed you Mom. I promise I can live on my own hahah.

Update on Chick-Fil-A John: We had a church tour/restoration lesson with him this week and it was sweeeeet! I think most of it went right over his head but he seemed to like it!! After we were done with the church tour we were just chilling in the chapel and he was like, "So can I have the book now.?" UH YA JOHN you can. Hahah!

We also have a baptism coming up on Saturday for our cute friend Erin! <3 Seriously she is such an angel and has endured so much to get to this point. It's amazing the sacrifice people make to be a part of the true church. I feel so blessed to have been brought up in it and to be able to have the opportunity to share it. WE ARE SO BLESSED. Make sure to share those blessings with everyone around you because they deserve happiness just as much as you do. :))

Chick-Fil-A ~ aka the promised land

GOT TO SEE MY FAVORITE HUMAN SIS SMITH :''')
Ok, so anyone who knows me at all will know that I have an unhealthy obsession with Chick-Fil-A. It's like to the extent of Utah moms and their Diet Coke obsessions. BUT this week it paid off! Haha. So Sister Ewell and I had our daily debate on whether to go home and eat a quesadilla or to go eat at God's greatest gift to man, Chick-Fil-A. ;) So we obviously chose the second. While I was ordering, the cash register guy was like, "Why do you look like that?" And at first I was thinking, "Lol, excuse me sir!" But then I realized he was talking about my name tag hahaha. So I explained that I'm a missionary and we teach more about Jesus Christ and he was like, "Oh, that's so cool. I love Jesus Christ." And we were like, "Oh do you?? How ironic because so do we." Then he had to keep working so we left him alone, but after we finished eating I said a lil' prayer that we could be able to talk with him, and right then he walked out from behind the counter.  We ran up to him and he told us he just got off work and would love to meet this week!! He literally just moved here like a week ago and he told us how he had been wanting a connection with God and Jesus Christ so it was perfect timing that we came and talked to him. I HAVE A TESTIMONY OF CHICK-FIL-A. I know that it's true, lol. But ya cool right? Chicken nuggets bringin' us all together. :')

This week was just funny. We had a lady that only spoke like two words of English talk to us for 20 minutes. She motioned for us to come with her so we did, and she brought us to the backyard where she then proceeded to show us a goat in a shed, which was good I guess. Haha! We had a really less active member bear his testimony about how he believes in two religions; Mormonism and Christianity. Hahaha. Little do you know sir that those are the same thing (but I love the enthusiasm nonetheless;)) And lastly, we were teaching a lesson about the Restoration and the lady turned it into a conversation about how fresh foods are the best way to go. I mean she's not wrong though, lol.

Spiritual gem for the week is just my AMAZEMENT at how God knows us all so perfectly. I've just been feeling extra grateful lately that He has a plan for not only me but for every single one of us!! Like how amazing is that?? Even though we are all so different he loves us just the same and cares about us personally. I am so thankful for that knowledge and my opportunity to tell other people that amazing truth. Missionary work is the BESTTTT.  Thank you for all the cute emails and letters and I hope everyone has an awesomeeee week. :)

Love,
Sister Mod
